this IC is that it can digitally control the oscillation amplitude of the Proximity Sensors and digitize and control the adjustment amount for each sensor.
The detection distance-temperature characteristics of the Proximity Sensors are affected by the temperature characteristics of the parts and the layout of the circuit, so optimization is required for each type.
In addition, the amount of correction for the detection distance depends on the shape and positional variation of the parts that make up the sensor, which causes variation.
Conventionally, this correction was adjusted in the intermediate process of production, but this is a major error factor.
Therefore, by using a unique communication method to write correction data for detection distance - temperature characteristics into the digital-analog hybrid IC, it became possible to carry out the correction at the final inspection. The
most difficult aspect of developing this digital-analog hybrid IC was that it was necessary to define all of the requirements and incorporate them into the IC specifications, even though these were taken for granted in conventional analogICs and specifications that were implicitly determined from past experience. Numerous problems occurred due to insufficient condition setting and incorporation into the specifications of Proximity Sensors, and there were many times whenthe schedule had to be readjusted.
However, by continuing the challenge without giving up, I believe we have achieved the world's longest detection distance* for a two-wire Proximity Sensors.
